His expertise extends to specific cross-training in interventional cardiology and heart valve transcatheter therapies, particularly in mitral and aortic procedures, at the same institution.

In 2012, he further honed his skills through a Fellowship in Aortic Surgery at the Hannover Medical School. Professor Taramasso’s primary focus lies in both surgical and catheter treatments of valvular heart disease, including transfemoral and transapical TAVI, as well as MitraClip interventions for heart failure. His contributions to the field are evident in numerous publications on these topics, and he has been recognized with the prestigious “Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology Young Investigator Award” in Denver, Colorado, USA. This accolade is bestowed annually during the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference, the foremost gathering in the world for interventional cardiology.

Dr. Carla Agiatello

Dr. Agatiello obtained her degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires in 1998 and in 2002 she completed her specialization and training in Cardiology at the Hospital Israelita de Buenos Aires. Subsequently, she completed a specialization in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Rouen and at the University of Créteil & Necker (Paris, France), where she obtained her diploma in 2005.

She was fellowship trained in Interventional Cardiology and focused on heart valve disease at the Charles Nicole Hospital (Rouen, France) over a period of 3 years.

Immediately afterward, Dr. Agatiello returned to Argentina to work with Liliana Grinfeld MD, PhD in the Department of Interventional Cardiology at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.

Dr. Flavio Ribichini presenting the 1-year data for the first Crea Aortic Valve patients.

EuroPCR is one of the largest international congresses for interventional cardiologists. Here, Dr. Flavio Ribichini presented the 1-year data for the first 3 patients of the Crea Aortic Valve (CAV). These cases were performed by Dr. Carlos Calderas in Venezuela. The patients were 3 elderly women with small aortic annuli and severe symptomatic aortic stenosis. All 3 patients had excellent hemodynamic data 1-year after implantation, including single-digit aortic mean gradients and trivial or no paravalvular leak. Additionally, the Vmax of all 3 patients was less than 2 m/s at 1 year. Interestingly, much of the hemodynamic data improved as time went on indicating the success of the self-anchoring and self-centering technology.
